Common problems with stoves

Smoke is a common problem caused by wet wood. Moisture test can be conducted to verify the content. If the chimney is cold, then chances of smoke are high due to cooling of gases and smoke. It is right not to turn off all orifices to enable fire air work from down side.

Cold days are also another problem. There could be lack of good draught and may lead to build up of tar. Other problem could be blockage or leakage.

Every house needs to be kept in good rooms where ventilation is good to encourage draught. Presence of vents is particularly good.

Draught can also be caused by gaps in the joints.
